With sales of over 4 million albums worldwide and 2 million in the UK alone, Russell Watson is the UK’s biggest selling artist of the 21st Century, outselling Madonna, (as featured in the recent Channel 4′s Top 50 ‘UK Music Hall of Fame’ chart). All of his albums have achieved Gold, Platinum and Double Platinum status and The Voice broke all records by spending a (Guinness Book of Records) year at No 1 in the UK Classical chart. Russell was also the first British male to take the No 1 spot in the UK and USA Classical charts simultaneously.

March 6th, 2006 sees the release of Russell Watson’s Greatest Hits ‘The Ultimate Collection’ on Decca. On top of the hits, the album includes two brand new tracks:
‘I Have Nothing’ and ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’.

This album celebrates Russell’s extensive career which has seen him win a staggering 4 Classical Brit Awards. His debut album ‘The Voice’ was the fastest selling Classical album since The Three Tenors. His second album, ‘Encore’ spent 10 consecutive weeks in the pop chart Top 10 in the run up to Christmas 2001 and ‘Reprise’ also saw him have a top 10 hit. His fourth album ‘Amore Musica’ – has lyrics by Dianne Warren, Gary Barlow and Elliot Kennedy. “It’s an uplifting album with songs about love, music, happiness and hope.”

Amongst Russell’s accolades – he has also performed at Wembley more times than Beckham and has played for Victoria and David at a charity event for the NSPCC. He has sung for Royalty – the Her Majesty the Queen, Prince Charles and The Duchess of Cornwall, plus Prime Ministers, Presidents and the last Pope.

Known as ‘The People’s Tenor’, Russell Watson was the first artist to take opera and classical music to a new audience. “To give classical music back to the people, or rather, to give it to people for the first time,” he explains. “Whether I am singing in front of five or 100,000 people, I just love to entertain.”

From April 2006, Russell will be playing the lead in the legendary Jeff Wayne’s ‘War Of The Worlds’ – on tour.
