England hit by another withdrawal!

England where hit by a new injury crisis on Friday evening – leaving them with no star to sing their national anthem at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday.

Wales have lined up Aled Jones, Katherine Jenkins and Bryn Terfel, but Russell Watson, who was due to sing ‘God Save the Queen’ before the two countries meet in the RBS Six Nations opener has been struck down with flu.

“It looks like Wales will win the early battle of the anthems, but its unfortunate that Russell has had to pull out,” said Millennium Stadium general manager Paul Sergeant.

“But the Royal Welch Regiment Band will do their best to give us a sterling rendition of ‘God Save the Queen’ and we hope all the fans join in.

“Obviously the Welsh national anthem will be impressive with the talent we have on hand and we will be in our national Stadium, so the pre-match entertainment should still set up a wonderful game,” added Sergeant.
