Singer Russell Watson wants fans to help him choose a song for his most unusual audience yet – 33,000 runners.
The star will perform at the start of this year’s Bupa Great Manchester Run, but admits he has no idea what to sing.
He is also taking part in the race and hopes to raise cash for Kirsty Howard’s charity, The Kirsty Club, for Francis House Children’s Hospice in Didsbury.
Russell said: “I’m delighted to show my support for Kirsty, one of the bravest people I have ever met.
But I have never sung to 33,000 people in running shorts before, so I would appreciate any suggestions that people feel will help inspire runners.”
The most popular suggestions, emailed to russellsong@greatrun.org before March 7, will be sent on to Russell.
Coronation Street’s Samia Smith and Antony Cotton are also running for the Kirsty Club.
Manchester-born Kirsty, 13, who was born with a rare organ disorder, will lead the Junior Manchester Run and is looking for sponsors.
