Russell Watson set for charity gig

articletab2The Grimsby Telegraph will join forces with a major charity for a spectacular concert at Cleethorpes’s Meridian Park this summer.

Organisers of the event, which is being held in support of Muscular Dystrophy, are in the late stages of negotiations to bring opera star Russell Watson to perform on July 17.

A number of special guests have also been lined up to support the star and further details will be released in the coming weeks.

Organisers of the event told the Telegraph they were delighted to link with the newspaper to promote the event, and hope it will raise thousands of pounds for the charity.

Proceeds from the event will be used to help those with the muscle disease – most cases of which are progressive, causing the muscles to gradually weaken over time.

The condition can affect people of all ages, with mobility often being affected.

Most conditions lead to some sort of disability, the severity of which varies greatly from person to person.
