Russell back after health scare

Russell Watson has revealed he is returning to the music scene after years of health troubles.

The Lancashire-born tenor is ready to get back into the spotlight with a new album, after being diagnosed and treated for two brain tumours in recent years.

“I’m starting to feel like myself again now – it’s been a tough three or four years, with one throat operation and two brain tumours; I’m not going to lie, it’s been very tough but I’m back and ready to rock,” he said at the Laurence Olivier awards in London.

Russell lamented about the swiftly changing state of the music business these days.

“There are a lot of people coming and going, the industry seems quite transient, so having been around for 10 years, I feel quite fortunate,” he said.

“There doesn’t seem to be that much time going into nurturing artists and building careers, which is quite sad really.”
